About Forest CLT
What is a Community Land Trust?
Definition
A model of affordable housing and community development.
A Community Land Trust, or CLT for short, is a non-profit organisation set up and run by ordinary people to develop and maintain homes and assets like buildings or other amenities, on behalf of a community. This puts the control of those properties into the hands of local people. The CLT acts as the long-term steward of these assets ensuring that they remain affordable and available to the community forever.
Forest CLT is also a Community Benefit Society and as such everything we do must be for the benefit of the community as a whole, including how we reinvest any profits – now and always.
We are also a member of the National Community Land Trust Network, the official charity supporting Community Land Trusts in England and Wales.
